Southern Nevada Speaker Series: Live stone tool demonstration

 

Stone tool use is the oldest form of technology used by humans. During this live demonstration, see and learn about the materials and process that go into creating stone tools, and why this understanding is so important to archaeologists.

Biography: Justin DeMaio is an archaeologist currently working for the Bureau of Land Management in the Las Vegas Field Office. His particular  interest in stone tool technology led him to start flint knapping early on his career. Although Justin is currently based in southern Nevada, he has done archaeological projects throughout the western United States and also Pennsylvania.
